This lesson will teach you how to play the melody in measures 13 & 14 of Cry me a River. To listen to the Melody Tab for the whole song go to the MELODY TAB video. Go to the COMBINED ARRANGEMENT Measures 13 & 14 page to find out what notes could be added to the melody when playing a solo performance, or the CHORDS Lesson Measures 13 & 14 page to find out how to play the supporting chords.

Video Script:

for the first note in these two measures place the

1st finger, on the 1st string, 5th fret

followed by the

2nd finger, on the 1st string, 6th fret

and then again the

1st finger, on the 1st string, 5th fret

these two notes are then repeated

for the rhythm of this measure

count 1, 2 an a, 3 an, 4

for the first of the Cry me a River guitar notes in the second of these measures place the

4th finger, on the 2nd string, 5th fret

followed by the

1st finger, on the 2nd string, 3rd fret

and then the

3rd finger, on the 3rd string, 5th fret

keeping the left hand in the same position finish the measure off by going back to the

1st finger, on the 2nd string, 3rd fret

and then the

4th finger, on the 2nd string, 5th fret

for the rhythm of the measure

count 1 an, 2 an a, 3 an, 4

The arrangement of the melody and the manner in which the melody is played in this lesson could easily sit with the title “Jazz Guitar lesson” or “Classical Guitar lesson” and should be interesting to players from both genres.
