This lesson will teach you how to play measures 15 & 16 of the Combined Arrangement Guitar version of Cry me a River. To listen to the Guitar Tab for the whole song go to the COMBINED ARRANGEMENT GUITAR TAB video. An essential part of any performance of an arrangement of a tune is that the melodic line should be heard clearly above the accompanying notes. Go to the MELODY Measures 15 & 16 page to revise the melody for these measures. If you want to impress, let that melody fly! Go to CHORDS Measures 15 &16 page to revise the chords for these measures.

Video Script:

In this guitar solo, in the first of these measures, play the melody with the exact same fingering as the melody version

now, harmonise the melody by playing the

4th string open

a D note, and the root of the harmonising chord

then the

3rd finger, on the 4th string, 3rd fret

an F note, a chord note of the harmonising G7 chord

and finally, C note, with the

3rd finger, on the 5th string, 3rd fret

The Guitar Tabs on the bottom of the video screen will help you find where to place your left hand fingers

to complete this in this acoustic guitar solo, on the last two beats of the second measure play a B7 chord

“p” plays the 5th string

“i” plays the 3rd string

“m” plays the 2nd string

“a” plays the 1st string

This arrangement could as easily sit with the title of “Jazz guitar arrangment” or “classical guitar arrangement” and be interesting to players from both genres.
