Moon River Combined Arrangement Guitar Measures 11 & 12

This lesson will teach you how to play measures 11 & 12 of the combined arrangement solo guitar version of Moon River. To listen to the Guitar Tab for the whole song, go to the GUITAR Tab video. An essential part of any performance of a tune is that the melodic line should be heard clearly above the accompanying notes. Go to the MELODY Measures 11 & 12 page to revise the melody for these measures. If you want to impress, let that melody fly! Video Script:

in this guitar solo for measures 11 & 12, in measure 11, play a Dmaj7 chord, starting from

the 1st finger, on the 3rd string, 2nd fret

going down to the 4th string open

back to the 1st finger, on the 3rd string, 2nd fret

then the 1st finger, on the 2nd string, 2nd fret

and the 1st finger, on the 1st string, 2nd fret

and finally the 1st finger, on the 2nd string, 2nd fret again

on the first beat of the second of these two measures two notes are played at the same time

the 1st string is played open

and the 2nd finger, is placed on the 6th string, 3rd fret

this note is a G and the root of the accompanying G7(b5) chord

to complete the measure in this acoustic guitar solo

follow these two notes with the 3rd string open

and then the 1st finger, on the 2nd string 2nd fret

followed by the 2nd string open

for the rhythm of this measure

count 1 an, 2, 3 an

This arrangement could as easily sit with the title of  “Jazz Guitar Arrangement” or “Classical Guitar Lesson” and be interesting to players from both genres..
