This lesson will teach you how to play the melody in measures 31 & 32 of Cry me a River. To listen to the Melody Tab for the whole song go to the MELODY TAB video. Go to the COMBINED ARRANGEMENT Measures 31 & 32 page to find out what notes could be added to the melody for a solo performance, or the CHORDS Lesson Measures 31 & 32 page to find out how to play the supporting chords.

Video script:

for the first note in the first of these two measures, place the

4th finger, on the 1st string, 5th fret

followed by the

3rd finger, on the 2nd string, 4th fret

and then the 1st finger, on the 2nd string, 1st fret

for the rhythm of these notes

count 1 an, 2 an

on the third beat of the first of these two measures, place the

4th finger, on the 2nd string, 3rd fret

followed by the

1st finger, on the 2nd string, 1st fret

and then the 2nd finger, on the 3rd string, 2nd fret

and finally the 1st finger, on the 2nd string, 1st fret

for the rhythm of these four notes

count 1 an, 2 an

for the final note of the tune in the second of these two measures, place the

1st finger, on the 2nd string, 1st fret

both measures together sound like this

The arrangement of the melody and the manner in which the melody is played in this lesson could easily sit with the title “Jazz Guitar lesson” or “Classical Guitar lesson” and should be interesting to players from both genres.
