This lesson will teach you how to play the chords in measures 27 & 28 of Over the Rainbow. To listen to the Chord Tab for the whole song go to the CHORDS TAB video. You can learn the melody for measures 27 & 28 of the tune in the MELODY Measures 27 & 28 page. If you’ve already learned the melody and the chords for measures 27 & 28 of the tune, why not try the COMBINED ARRANGEMENT Measures 27 & 28 which combines the melody of the tune with notes from the supporting chords.
Video Script:
F chord
the first chord in these two measures of this guitar song is an F chord
to play an F chord you put your
1st finger, on the 2nd string, 1st fret
and then, at the same time, press the 1st finger onto the 1st string, 1st fret, holding down both strings with the 1st finger
this is called a barre chord in guitar music and it won’t be particularly easy if it’s new to you
if the strings aren’t making a clear sound then try supporting your 1st finger with your 2nd finger until the 1st finger gets used to holding down the 2 strings
to complete the F chord, put the 2nd finger on the 3rd string, 2nd fret
and the 3rd finger on the 4th string, 3rd fret
You can find the Guitar Tab on the bottom of the video screen
as with the previous chords, use ” p i m a” for the right hand
“p” plays the 4th string
“i” plays the 3rd string
“m” plays the 2nd string
“a” plays the 1st string
To complete these guitar lesson notes play an Em chord
the Em chord has appeared previously
play it exactly the same as before
with the left hand, place your
2nd finger, on the 5th string, 2nd fret
and the 3rd finger, on the 4th string, 2nd fret
and with the right hand
“p” plays the 6th string
“i” plays the 3rd string
“m” plays the 2nd string
and “a” plays the 1st string
F Em
The arrangement of the chords in this lesson could easily sit with the title “Jazz Chords Lesson” or “Classical Guitar Lesson” and be interesting to players of both genres.
